In 1984, Francesco Moser broke the hour record riding an astonishing 51,154 km. The bike is an early example of the new golden area of aerodynamic cycle technology.
After Eddy Merckx hour record in 1972, Moser took a completely different approach from a technological standpoint focusing on aerodynamics, frame geometry and disc wheels. The bike weighs almost the double as Eddy Merckx hour record bike, but the aerodynamic shape made the difference.
